Daniel Fuchs joins the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences as Professor of Design and Machine Elements!
We are delighted to welcome Prof Fuchs as a new colleague.
After holding various positions in industry - including in design, materials technology and as a department head - he is now bringing his technical experience and enthusiasm to teaching.
Why did he decide to join the university?
Because he has received a great deal of support throughout his training, from his apprenticeship to his technician, Bachelor's and Master's degree and finally his doctorate - and he now wants to pass this knowledge on to the next generation.
In his teaching, he attaches particular importance to an open and practice-orientated learning atmosphere in which students dare to ask questions and actively participate. Theory and practice go hand in hand.
His main topics at the university:
- Design and methodical product development - students develop their own product concept based on a case study during a lecture, for example.
- Machine elements - practical application of calculation methods
- Materials and heat treatment technology for machine elements - understanding cases of damage and maximising load-bearing potential
Prof. Fuchs is also actively involved in several THI laboratories and is active in joint research (FVA and AWT) and standardisation (DIN).
Away from the university, Prof Fuchs is a keen mountain biker and passionate barbecue enthusiast - with the same energy that he brings to his teaching.
We say: Welcome to the team!
Here's to exciting projects, inspiring teaching and many motivated students!
