LUMINAi - Latin-American University Minds Shaping Innovation in Next-Generation AI

Attracting international AI talent to Germany

LUMINAi is a DAAD-funded project from the Academic Horizons funding line that attracts highly qualified Master's students and doctoral candidates from Brazil, Mexico and Colombia to Germany as a centre for AI. During the 2026 - 2029 funding phase, the aim is to train international talent at THI's AI mobility hub and prepare them for the labour market in Germany.

The project offers excellent academic prospects through the AI study courses at THI as well as an additional honours degree, doctoral opportunities and individual development programmes. Participants are prepared for leadership roles in research, industry and technology-orientated start-ups via an academic track and an entrepreneurial career path (Industry & Entrepreneurial Track).

Through the holistic promotion and integration of international talent, the project contributes to securing skilled labour in the field of Artificial Intelligence and at the same time strengthens Germany's innovation and competitiveness.
