Business Administration (B. A.)

Professorin mit Studierenden FreiluftvorlesungApplication period for the summer semester 2027: 3 November 2026 to 15 January 2027

Who thinks about studying business nowadays? There are so many courses that seem more exciting at first glance. The answer is simple: a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration prepares you optimally for your professional future.

You will acquire comprehensive management knowledge and practical experience that will prepare you for a wide range of positions in companies - be it in a start-up, an NGO or an international corporation. With the option of choosing two majors in business administration or combining a stay abroad, for example, you can set your own individual priorities.

Whether you want to specialize in Digital Business, Marketing and Sales, Controlling and Finance, Automotive and Mobility Management, HR Management and CSR, Operations and Supply Chain Management, Corporate Taxation and Accounting or even internationally is entirely up to you. A dual study program is also a great option, as our practical companies confirm that you will be able to work in a wide range of areas within the company afterwards.

With the business management work techniques and know-how that you learn as part of your management studies, you will always be needed in business. You decide what suits you best!

Structure

1st - 3rd Semester full time studies

Practical orientation is very important to us. That's why you start your business administration studies with an introductory week in which you go on an excursion and carry out a company analysis as part of a team.

In the first part of your studies, you will then learn the basics of business administration, such as marketing, financing, HR management, logistics or digital business, based on the latest scientific findings and deepen your knowledge of business English. You will also learn project management methods.

4th - 7th semester full time studies

From the fourth semester onwards, you will specialize in two of eight freely selectable areas of study. In small groups, you will work directly with the professors on current topics related to your specialization. In addition to further foundations in strategic management and economics, you can acquire specialist and social skills in four elective subjects, such as “Business start-up and start-up coaching” or expand your language skills. One of the specializations can be completed abroad. The sixth semester, the practical semester, is all about applying the knowledge you have already acquired.

With the final Bachelor's thesis, you will acquire the academic title Bachelor of Arts. This gives you the opportunity to start your career directly or to specialize further as part of a Master's degree.

1st - 14th semester part time studies

The part-time study programme is especially suitable for students in particular personal situations (e.g. taking care of children or family members, disability, etc.). The programme content is the same as for the full-time bachelor's degree course in Business Administration. However, students have more time so as to be able to organise childcare or care of their relatives more effectively, for example. The course breaks down into two degree phases. The first phase comprises six theory semesters and a basic internship which is completed between semesters. The second phase comprises six theory semesters in which students specialise in two freely selected focus areas, and two practical semesters.

In the part-time study programme, students acquire the academic title of Bachelor of Arts on completion of the final bachelor’s degree assignment. This enables them either to embark on a career or engage in further specialisation by going on to take a master’s degree.

Testimonials

Barbara Abegg, Student

“I decided to study Business Administration at THI because I wanted to be close to Munich and I read that THI has a good reputation. I particularly like the practical projects, as I enjoy working in a team and they are practice-oriented. The lectures are also very interactive, which leads to lots of interesting discussions. I also find it easy to learn, as the professors divide us into study groups to work on tasks. The special thing about my degree course is that the professors impart a lot of knowledge and always provide practical relevance through practical examples as well as organized guest lectures.”

Ergon Molliqaj, Student

This practical orientation ensures that the teaching content. The university is also characterized by modern teaching methods and infrastructure. Paula Hoeß, Student

"After completing my commercial apprenticeship, I decided to study business administration at Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences. As the lecturers have extensive practical knowledge, the lectures are designed to be lively. It was important to me that not only theoretical knowledge is taught, but also practical applications such as SAP, Excel and social projects. The informal atmosphere at THI also enables good communication between students and on an equal footing."

International students

Anyone with an international university degree/higher education qualification wanting to study at a university in Germany needs a so-called Hochschulzugangsberechtigung (HZB), or higher education entrance qualification. This lets applicants show that their educational background or professional qualification allows them to study in Germany, i.e. they have the necessary higher education entrance qualification to register for a course.

The recognition of the qualification is linked to certain requirements. If the certificate of education is recognised as a higher education entrance qualification in Germany, the international student may apply for all courses (general qualification) or for certain courses (subject-specific qualification). Two to three semesters of study in the home country may be recognised as a higher education entrance qualification in Germany, depending on the country of origin. Dual studies or studies with in-depth practical

The dual studies programme enables a combination of practical training elements in a company with the theoretical education provided by the university. There is a choice of either the joint model (academic study + vocational training) or the degree course with vocational experience (academic study + intense practical phases). There is an obvious advantage to students here: practically oriented academic study generally enables a particularly smooth transition from university to the world of work. What is more, the student usually receives financial remuneration from the company concerned.

The Business Administration course offers both models.

In the joint model, students may start working at the company several months before the start of the first semester, depending on the company concerned. At the start of the course there is an alternation between theory (during the semester) and practical experience (between semesters and during the practical semesters). In order to embark on a dual studies programme, students have to apply to both a company and to THI (be sure to take note of company application deadlines!).
