Many of our students spend a period of time abroad as part of their studies at the Business School. The first point of contact is generally the THI’s International Office, which maintains contact with all partner universities as well as offering consultation and support when it comes to planning and undertaking a period of study or an internship in another country. In addition, all professors and lecturers are more than happy to help when questions arise.
The THI Language Centre prepares students to tackle the linguistic challenges they encounter when they go abroad. It offers languages courses not just in English but also in French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese and Japanese as well as providing instruction in intercultural skills.

Semester abroad
Students who opt to take one or more semesters abroad can sign up for courses at one of around 180 THI partner universities and have their credits counted towards their degree course at THI.

Internship
This is an ideal opportunity to gain work experience abroad, laying the foundation for a successful career start. If it is planned appropriately, an internship abroad can count fully towards a degree course.

Summer School China (2025)
"Together with five fellow THI students as well as students from Austria and other European countries, I had the opportunity to visit China through the Forum Asia-Pacific International Asia Know-How Summer School as part of my master’s program.
From mid-August to mid-September, the program enabled us to attend classes at Peking University and Fudan University in Shanghai, two of the most prestigious universities in China. This gave us valuable insights into how students in China live and study. As part of the program, we visited famous landmarks such as the Great Wall of China and the Bund in Shanghai, with its impressive skyline. However, my personal highlights were unique experiences that no ordinary tourist would typically have, such as having lunch with Daoist monks at the White Monastery and engaging in open and thought-provoking discussions with Austrian diplomats at the embassy. Their insights and personal experiences were especially fascinating. Overall, it was an incredible opportunity to experience China in a compact but very intense way.
